Tobias Johannessen Speaks Out After Pogacar Crash Fallout
Norwegian cyclist Tobias Johannessen revealed he was “terrified” by the online abuse he received following Tadej Pogacar’s crash during Wednesday’s stage of the Tour de France.
The incident occurred late in the 156.8km stage around Toulouse when Pogacar, a three-time Tour de France champion, collided with Johannessen’s rear wheel and crashed to the ground.
Despite the fall, Pogacar quickly remounted his bike. In a show of sportsmanship, rivals Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel slowed their pace to allow the Slovenian rider to rejoin the leading group, minimizing any significant time loss.
Johannessen later admitted fault for the incident and expressed concern over the intense backlash he received online.
