The SA under-21 SPAR Baby Proteas squad for the upcoming 2025 Netball Youth World Cup, set to take place in Gibraltar from 19–25 September 2025, was officially announced on Tuesday.
Coached by Precious Mthembu, the Baby Proteas have shown impressive form leading up to the tournament, including
- A flawless record in the Africa World Youth Cup qualifiers
- A dominant international series against Jamaica’s under-21 team
The final squad was selected from a broader pool of players following evaluations in several competitions, most notably the Telkom Netball League (TNL).
South Africa will compete in Pool D, facing tough opposition from
- Barbados
- Malawi
- Fiji
- Trinidad and Tobago
The selection process, which began three years ago, focused on identifying players with the right mix of talent, discipline, and teamwork to ensure South Africa remains competitive on the global stage.
