The 2025/26 LaLiga season kicks off on August 15, bringing a diverse lineup of coaches to the spotlight—ranging from experienced tacticians to promising newcomers.
Deportivo Alavés – Eduardo Coudet
After joining mid-season and guiding the team to safety, Coudet now prepares for his first full campaign, aiming to stabilize Alavés in the top flight.
Athletic Club – Ernesto Valverde
Valverde led the Basque side to Copa del Rey victory and a return to the Champions League. Entering another season, he continues to elevate Athletic’s competitive edge.
Atlético de Madrid – Diego Simeone
Simeone, the longest-serving coach in LaLiga, begins his 14th full season with the club. With eight trophies under his belt, he’s focused on further glory.
FC Barcelona – Hansi Flick
In his debut season, Flick delivered a domestic treble. Now in year two, the German coach will try to defend the league title and push further in Europe.
Real Betis – Manuel Pellegrini
With Betis consistently qualifying for European competitions under his leadership, Pellegrini’s goal is to build on their appearance in the Conference League final.
RC Celta – Claudio Giráldez
Promoted from within, Giráldez guided Celta to a seventh-place finish with one of LaLiga’s youngest squads. He remains one to watch at just 37 years old.
Elche CF – Eder Sarabia
Sarabia led Elche back to LaLiga and built the strongest defense in the second tier. He now faces the challenge of keeping them competitive in the top division.
RCD Espanyol – Manolo González
After securing survival last season and extending his contract, González now enters a full campaign aiming to rebuild and push Espanyol up the table.
Getafe CF – José Bordalás
Back for a second spell, Bordalás is a club icon who previously achieved promotion and European qualification. He now looks to revive that past success.
Girona FC – Míchel
Míchel, entering his fifth year, made history by securing Champions League football two seasons ago. After a dip last term, he’ll aim to regain that form.
Levante UD – Julián Calero
Having taken the club to promotion in his first year, Calero makes his top-flight debut, hoping to prove himself after years in Spain’s lower leagues.
RCD Mallorca – Jagoba Arrasate
In his second season at Mallorca, Arrasate wants to take the next step after narrowly missing out on Europe, building on his successful time at Osasuna.
CA Osasuna – Alessio Lisci
Lisci joins Osasuna after a strong season with Mirandés. At 39, he takes on his second top-flight role after a brief stint with Levante in 2021.
Real Oviedo – Veljko Paunović
Paunović guided Oviedo to LaLiga after 24 years. The former Serbian youth World Cup-winning coach now begins his journey in Spain’s top tier.
Rayo Vallecano – Íñigo Pérez
Previously assistant coach, Pérez took over mid-season and led Rayo to a historic eighth-place finish and European football. Expectations are now higher.
Real Madrid – Xabi Alonso
Returning as head coach, Alonso replaces Ancelotti after a treble-winning season with Leverkusen. He now looks to bring similar success to the Bernabéu.
Real Sociedad – Sergio Francisco
Promoted from the B team, Francisco steps into the first-team role following Alguacil’s departure. A long-time member of the club, he knows the system well.
Sevilla FC – Matías Almeyda
Almeyda returns to Sevilla as coach after winning the Greek double with AEK Athens. His mission is to return the club to top-half respectability.
Valencia CF – Carlos Corberán
Taking charge when Valencia were bottom, Corberán turned the team around and climbed to a 12th-place finish. He now aims for a more stable season.
Villarreal CF – Marcelino
Back for his fifth year in charge across two spells, Marcelino secured Champions League qualification and brings a wealth of experience to the Yellow Submarine.
