The women’s 200m breaststroke delivered the excitement once again at the SA National Swimming Championships in Gqeberha, with both Rebecca Meder and Kaylene Corbett clocking qualifying times for the 2025 World Championships in Singapore. Meder secured gold in 2:23.61, while Corbett followed with 2:24.70. Meder, new to the event, praised Corbett’s experience and competitiveness. Erin Gallagher won the women’s 100m freestyle in 54.94 as she gears up for her preferred butterfly event. Matt Sates claimed his fourth gold with a dominant 400m IM win, and 14-year-old Caitlin Evans clinched the women’s 400m IM in 5:00.16. Minke Janse van Rensburg also made headlines by breaking her own Down Syndrome world record in the 50m butterfly with a time of 36.59.
